I live in Canada--its a little chilly in the winter. My tank was a bit cool--similar to yours. We don't have air conditioning, and in the hot summer days the tank has reached just over 92 on the hot side. I've noticed the gecko is eating way more, pooping daily and gererally more active at...
I've also got a single SHTCT--I buy 50 mealies at a time, keep half in the fridge. I primarily feed crickets. I get a price break at 50/$4but the mortality rate and stink are pretty bad. Its nice to have a supply of mealworms to suppliment the diet, but I would think breeding would be a pain...
To make matters even worse it was my six year old daughter who suggested the pinky, technically its her gecko and we're learning A LOT about nature together. Once my daughter was asleep I removed the pinky and held it for a while, it wriggled and chirped, warmed in the heat of my palm...then...
Beware of Pinkies - made me sad
My adult leo eats crickets and mealworms. She once bit the head off of a superworm but didn't eat it. Two nights ago I tried feeding a live pinky--she licked it but was otherwise uninterested. I will never offer her another pinky. Watching this little...
things I've tried
I started on crickets and consider them as my main food source. I keep a couple of dozen mealworms in the fridge as I sometimes run out of crickets--I buy a dozen or two at a time and seem to have a 25% mortality rate after about a week or so. I've tried a superworm but once...
hello, I just threw some Betta Fish food in with the crickets and they went wild over it--unfortunately I threw out the container--I wouldn't think that it contains anything harmful for the leo...any thoughts?

As soon as I clean my gecko tries to squeeze into any small gap in between the glass and the hide--completely trashes the place, especially around her 'poo corner'. After that she settles and couldn't care less, so I'm thinking she is somehow aware of her scent. Either that or maybe she's a dude.
I switched from sand to paper towel and some slate tile--I get frustrated because the crickets and mealworms always seem to find ways to hide under the paper--doesn't seem to bother the gecko though.
:DWe got a Tangerine at Christmas--she seems fully grown at about 8" long and is settling nicely, eating crickets/mealworms. When we got her she had 10 Black spots on her head. Suddenly this week there are some more brown spots on her head, they seemed to appear overnight. Is this normal or...
Hey, new guy here...have a female leo and every time I clean the tank and change the paper towel she freaks out when I put her back...literally tries to climb the walls for an hour or two. Is this normal--I've heard males use scent to mark their territory... Also, how often should you clean...
I'm not sure how old our gecko is, she's close to 8 inches long, we've had her for a couple of months. She eats 2-4 med/large crickets a day plus 4-6 small meal worms. We offered her a superworm yesterday but I think it freaked her out a bit--she eventually and somewhat enthusiastically bit...
