LOOOOONG time no post, sorry it has to be a rant lol.
I work in a certain big chain pet store that will not be named (we don't suck though, I promise)... any way, I am really, REALLY sick of customers demanding a "cleaner fish". I am also really tired of getting this line "I had this cleaner...
i am soooooooo sick of people calling the pet store where i work asking how to take care of [insert wild animal here] they found "abandoned". they are never prepared for the care these animals need and 9/10 times they will be just fine on their own with out the aid of humans.
mother nature...
for people not experienced with reptiles beardies are often considered "huge". but as a little kid i grew up with my grandma's 6ft iguana so almost all lizards seem tiny.
honestly, getting tail whipped by the beardie was probably the least of the torture this guy suffered at the hands of those...
i work at [insert big pet store company here] in the live pet area (fish, birds, small animals and reptiles). to get more hours i have been also stocking and i haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate it omg.
all of the crud they send us comes from a distribution center and i can only assume they employ a...
augh, i know it was for xmas and all... but stop buying pets just to have them! i can see it in your eyes and hear it in the tone of your voice that you don't give a hoot. i can see it in the way you rolled your eyes as as showed you the books and in the way you put the care guide in the trash...
at least once a week someone comes in my store and we get to talking about their pet turtle... only to find that they have no idea how to care for it! almost all of them have either acquired said turtles from NYC or the wild as hatchlings.
it makes me so mad to hear things like "it's had a...
this took place near where i live... never eaten there though.
this article has some crappy camera phone pictures of the snake head. beware, even though you can barely make out the fact that it's a snake head it's still very disgusting.
caulk up any entry points... the ants at my place come from where the wall doesn't quite meet the floor, but since i'm a renter i can't caulk it. sticky duct tape can work too, but it has to be really sticky so the ants will get stuck when they touch it. you can also use fly paper/ mouse glue...
lol come trade with me, my down stairs neighbors love to blast music so loud that my bed shakes... at 3 AM!
talking to people doesn't always work... chances are they don't care. i suggest investing in ear plugs.
ugh, that's totally stupid. that would never fly in the store i work at... our DM would have our heads on steaks, not to mention my manager would probably put us through a wall first. sometimes all people see is money and forget animals have feelings... upper management complains about how much...
nocturnal animals are sometimes active during the day and can adjust to day time feeding. feeding in the evening would be more natural though. don't expect your gecko to be terribly active either way.
the sand battle is just as hard as the gold fish bowl battle... sometimes asking people if they'd enjoy eating sandy food helps. just because it's a gecko doesn't mean it enjoys eating grity sand, i can't imagine that feels good on the throat.
turn off the lights, get it away from direct sunlight (if it gets direct sunlight at any point in the day). unless you have live plants you really don't need to always have the aquarium light running for fresh water fish.
as for getting off what you have an algae scrubbing pad will do...
my tank is on the ground and my gecko spends his day sleeping in odd positions on various items, they really don't do much. since i gave his tank a makeover after replacing the UTH he's been moving around a lot more... maybe if you changed up the scenery it would spark some curiosity. lol... but...
