Just finished moving Lizzy Borden to her new mondo condo ( check the DIY forum for my post) when Iput Lizzy in her new house I see she needs to shed. I was a bit concerned the move may have upset her, but nope. 15 minutes after she was home she was shedding.
Lizzys new Mondo Condo UPDATE. Shes all moved in and picked today or last night to start to shed. The pics 1st is the butcher paper bottom I used to cover the sand and cables, 2nd is the tank done, 3rd is Lizzy Borden not co-operating , 4th some deco and one of her pals.
I'll just be using sand as a thermal barrier now and it'll be covered by just multiple layers of butchers paper glued together, so no gravel and if she can get the rocks I plan on using for decoration in her mouth I'm burning down the house. and calling the national guard.
1. 55 gal glass tank.
2. blue plastic aquatium back ground silicone tacked to the inside.
3. 36' 100 watt heat cable trimmed down to fit the enclosure (yes you can cut heat cables if you know what you are doing) cable. is lifted off the bottom by 1/2 silicone bunmps and square zip tie tabs...
The top pic is most recent. I'm guessing she (he) is about 3 months old. Hope its a she becaucause of her name. The othe pic is just after we got her with her tank mates, blue death feigning beetles.
Starting to lay out plans to set up a 55 for my leo. Does the clay stick to glass and tile. I want to be able to remove hide tops to clean and feed and be able to tear the tank down easily if I have to. Also, would paper towel diameter be good for adult Leos to get through easily.
..any of you keep other critters in with your Leos. I have a dozen or so blue death feigning beetles and they do just fine. I was just curious if y'all keep anyother tank mates. I'm puttin Lizzy a 55 gal together and thought maybe something that sleeps at night and is up during the days. Let me...
I have my leo in a 30 gal vivarium with cacti and succulents, very dry plants thatt get spot wattered every couple weeks. At first the humidity was between 30 -40, but in the past week its been 35'ish during daylight hours and spiking to 70 at night. I calibrated my mygometer and its dead on. I...
I was planning on cable and zip tieing it to the tiles. That will give me the ability to manipulate positioning. I could go the next size up to river rock maybe. Must meditate on these possibilities.
I'm setting up a 55 for my Leo and it will be bio active as I grow cacti and succulents. The base layer of substrate is meduium sized pebble for drainage, then soil, then sand and pea pebbles for the top layer. This will not only be a heavy tank but having to uproot plants is a drag. I was...
I'm building a 55 vivarium to house succulents, cacti, blue death feigning beetles and a young albino leo. The substrate will consist of lava rock and gravel on the bottom for drainage, a layer of sand and topped off with pea gravel. I have lots ot drift wood and rocks for hides. Lighting is T-5...
