Hamburg's show is great. I really want to go back, but I can't risk spending money there, ya know? ;) But here's the website: SearchTempest Online Classifieds Search - All the Classifieds. One Search. Good luck! ~Maggot

    What diurnal lizard to get?

They were decently active, and their little chirps were the cutest. I truly don't have any clue how they kept escaping, because I tried four different enclosures/containers that I went over every inch of and still couldn't get the hang of it. I don't know, maybe I'm just really bad at...

    What diurnal lizard to get?

I had some mournings. They're really cool, but, unfortunately, it didn't work out. I had ordered a group of subadults because I didn't want to start with babies, but he ended up handing me babies. I mean, tiny. I reluctantly took them, but, with how little they are and the fact that I was set up...

    Best monitor

I'm not sure how you keeping other reptiles is relevant to knowing that monitors need huge, custom-built enclosures, but I was simply pointing out that they're all "super difficult to keep." Forget I said anything though. Have fun. ~Maggot

Any monitor is super difficult to keep. They require huge, custom-built enclosures. ~Maggot

Sav probably. My understanding is that it's the hardiest and most common. Correct Savannah Monitor Care ~Maggot

I want a crested but.. temperatures..?

There are literally hundreds - if not thousands - of gecko species out there. Limiting yourself to two makes no sense. ~Maggot

I want a crested but.. temperatures..?

Probably would be a good idea to pick another reptile then. ~Maggot

I want a crested but.. temperatures..?

I don't know of a way of keeping the viv itself cooler. You'd probably have to decrease the temperature of the room it's in. ~Maggot

I want a crested but.. temperatures..?

If it gets that warm in your house, you've got a problem. Anything over about 82 (27 C) or so is considered very dangerous if not deadly for crested geckos. ~Maggot

Set up housing the same as leopard gecko?

You asked they could be kept in "pretty much the same setup," and the answer's no. It's pretty much opposite. There is virtually no similarity between the two. Leopard geckos should not even be part of the discussion when talking about crested geckos. And judging by your initial post about...

Set up housing the same as leopard gecko?

You have to do some research on your own. If you had done any at all, you would have known that you can't house a crested gecko like a leopard gecko. You can't just come here, say what you plan to do without any research, then expect other people to correct you and spoon-feed you all the...

Set up housing the same as leopard gecko?

NOOOOOO. If you keep a crested gecko like a leopard gecko, it will die. These are two completely different animals with completely different needs. One is a terrestrial species that eats entirely insects from a relatively dry environment, and the other is an arboreal species that eats fruit and...

The main problem is that it's at that temp with no UTH, just a light. That's the ENTIRE temperature, not the cool side temp. Once a UTH is added, with how little floor space there is, I wouldn't be surprised if the cool side temp went up over 25. I have seen my leo use temps in the low-mid 70's...

I said that the cold side should be 21-24. I wouldn't be surprised if the UTH bumps it up a bit on the cool side, since your enclosure is so small that there isn't much room for a temp gradient. ~Maggot

What? There's a suggested temp gradient for a leopard gecko so that it can stay comfortable and allow it the options it needs. You just can't really get that with the kind of enclosure you're using. ~Maggot

I think you're just gonna have to get a regular 20 long aquarium. 25-27 is too warm for a cool side (should be about 21-24), so even when you add the UTH, if it brings up the warm side temps to what they should be (31-33), your cool side is still gonna be a bit too warm - maybe even warmer after...

Yes, it is. I'm still curious though: Were the temps you gave warm or cool side? ~Maggot

84-85 inside the hide isn't warm enough. I'd suggest getting a low-wattage CHE to keep on the warm side. Make sure you have a gap under your tank, btw, to allow excess heat from the UTH to escape. If it builds up, it can crack the glass. Otherwise, looks good. :) ~Maggot
