if i crossed an amel to a normal,i'd get normals all het amel, correct?then if i bred them back to each other,i'd have a 25% chance of getting amels?i'm trying to figure out fat tail genetics.i am a leopard gecko guy.i'm assuming that amel is a simple recessive and acts like the 3 strains of albinism in leopard geckos.is all this correct?

The Amelanistic trait is a recessive gene and all recessive genes function the same way.
So you are correct...

Amel x Normal: 100% - 100% het. Amel

Het. Amel x Het. Amel: 25% Amel, 50% - 100% het. Amel, and 25% Normal.

Since we can not tell the difference between heterozygous animals and normals, all normal looking offspring from that crossing are considered 66% het. Amel. So they have a 66% chance of carrying the Albino gene.

Hope this helps! :main_thumbsup:

Homozygous x Heterozygous: 50% homozygous ; 50% heterozygous

Amel x Het. Amel: 50% Amel ; 50% - 100% het. Amel
