any idea of breed?

Hi There I am new to the forums.

I am in so call and we moved some equipment in our auto shop and
out popped this little guy.
His fat tail caught my i and afer a closer look i relized he was a gecko.
seems to have a injured toe.
i went to pick him up and he dropped his tail but it was FAT!

i decided to take care of him and got him a new tank to live in and some goodies.

but can anyone tell me what type?
i didnt know there were geckos in so cal?

How big is it? If its smaller (like the size of your index finger or smaller) it looks like it could be a Mediterranean house gecko. There were TONS around my porch light at night when I lived in TX. Sorry to say I tried to keep a few in a heavily planted 10 gallon and they really didn't do well. After a couple weeks they started looking pretty thin I decided to release them.
