Clogged cloaca

Hello all,

Wondering if anyone can help. Our son's leopard gecko (Newt) has not been pooping regularly. He went about 5-7 days without pooping and we noticed his cloaca was clogged with a whitish and specks of black gunk. My son gave a gentle cleaning and he poop the next day. He usually poops a tidy pellet of urate and a pellet of poop. But this poop was a mix of urate and poop. He colour also seems to be a little pale.

Thank you for all the help you guys offer!

It looks from the picture as if he has stuck shed in the vent area. Once that happens, even if he poops the shed is keeping the poop from coming out. Gently spray the area with warm water to soften it and then use your fingernails to remove the shed. You may pull out some poop and/or urates as well, which is fine. He will likely be super grateful!

Thanks for the info. When we washed the area. They come out almost like removing blackheads from a pimple. Except they are firm and white.
