Dimmer for UTH? Work same as rheostat?

My outlet that I plug my UTH in is controlled by a dimmer on my wall. If I lower the dimmer, would the UTH get cooler? Does this work the same was as a Rheostat? Thank you.

It might.... some dimmers are designed for lower or higher wattage. I use a laser temperature inferomether and adjust my 'dimmers' according to the floor temperatures on the hot side of the enclosures.
