DIY Humid Hide

I have been trying to find a good humid hide for my leo. Winters in San Diego are very dry. I tried gluing moss inside her half log as well as other fixes. She never used it but the crickets did. I found something that she loves but I admit it's a bit on the redneck spectrum. I took a big brown Costco sized vitamin jar and put in a few clean river rocks and added just a little water. The rocks keep the jar from moving and keep her above the water. Since the jar is nonporous it doesn't dry out. It is easy to clean. I just swirl water around the jar rocks and all every few days. 20201207_185725.jpg 20201207_185819.jpg

Interesting concept! I use Gladware sandwich containers. I cut a hole in the top of the container big enough for the gecko to get into and use coco fiber. When it starts looking dry I just add a bit of water and swish it around.
