Once again I'm submitting my financial data from my gecko keeping in 2014 in order to give people an idea of expenses with a small business like this. Be aware that I have not tracked cost of electricity or transportation related expenses (gas, mileage, etc), so the reality is that it probably cost more than it seems.

This season I maintained a permanent reptile population of about 35, produced about 60 leopard geckos and about 25 other geckos (fat tails, gargs, Coleonyx). I have about 25 left to sell.

Here are the figures for 2014:

Income:
Reptiles sold: $2466
Supplies sold: $217
Misc. sold (mostly money for writing about reptiles) $205

Total income: $2888

Expenses:
Reptiles bought: $410
Supplies bought: $592
Feeders bought: $1590 (averaging $132/month)
Misc. (photocopying and tables for shows, etc): $424

Total expenses: $3015

Net loss: $127

I hope this is helpful to people planning to get into the hobby.

I really appreciate this post. I hope it lets people know about what it is to get into this.
I just finally, after 8 months of breeding my first geckos, am now making any kind of money from it.
