From my experience, Crested genetics are a freaking grab bag of nonsense. I have a pair of harlequins that have produced harlequins, dalmatians, pinstripes, and everything in between. Unknown background on them, they were given to me as a rescue situation.

I suspect that as more data is collected on breeding and the lineage of more geckos is known, it will become clearer how to produce specific desired results.
