So I am planning on purchasing a Madagascar Giant Day Gecko and I am wondering what lights work best. I have a spare Double Dome that a friend gave me but I know that those aren't too good because they don't allow for full spectrum UVB. So what should I use? Should I use the linear UVB light or Is the dome fine? Also what heat bulb works best I know there basking spot has to be in the 90s. I have a 60 watt light or should I go higher.

As far as I know (I have a few smaller day geckos, but not a Giant), many people use tube fluorescents for the UV and smaller halogen or xenon puck lights for basking.

just upgraded from a dome lamp to a light bar for Tahoe jack, my Grandis. in the last month he is showing more bright and defined colorations than ever. the light bar seems to spread the light throughout the tank better than the dome light does. this helps give a better UVB exposure throughout the day. if he's smaller than 6 inches then I would get the 5.0 rating bar so its not to intense, and go with the 10.0 rating later
