Hello, I'm looking at getting a giant day gecko as soon as I have the enclosure all set, I've got the temp and humidity down so I'm ok there, I've got the live plants (3 snake plants) and I'm now wondering about the walking sticks. I've read Bamboo is good but hard to come by in my area so would Hemlock closet rod or PVC pipe be an acceptable substitution? I'm concerned that maybe the Hemlock might have natural oils in it even the its kiln dried.

Any of those will be fine. Garden stores may have bamboo. What size enclosure are you planning?

thank you acpart, I figured as much but wanted to be sure. I have a 18x18x24 tall set up. I brought home a crimson last night and it looks to be right at home, if not a little stressed from the move. I'll try to post a pic of the enclosure shortly but I'm a bit of a techtard so we'll see. I'm going to add some length of closet rod so it has a place to hang out up high with out hanging onto the wall.

Sounds good. Be sure there are enough real or fake plants and branches so it has places to hide.
