So, I found a helix on C list today and the guy wants $50 for it, he says it's about 4 years old. Is that a good deal? Or should I get a not-as-nice one brand new? how long do they last? Thanks in advance!

Spend the money to get a new one. He may be selling it for a reason.......

I'm just always leary of buying used electronics like thermostats. It may work fine, but it may not. At least with a new one you have some recourse if it doesn't work perfectly. The additional cost of a new one is not that great.

Also if your in Southern California you can buy a Helix direct from them since they are just located in Vista.
