I was wondering if anyone knew some good places to go herping in the bay area? particularly the north bay. Have you ever found any rubber boas? I would really love to find a rubber boa during a herping trip. They are really awesome little snakes.

I haven't found one, but a good friend of mine has in the Santa Cruz mountains. There's a ton of good spots in the South Bay, just don't know the North Bay very well to help you out.

i have some spots in the sierras for rubber boas. at certain times of the year they can be pretty common. the neonates are a very pretty orange color around here! love it!
learning about the habitat they prefer is a good step in finding them, joining the local herp society can be a great way to meet people familiar with the area and the animals you're after. good luck!
