Leopard Gecko with Necrosis. Please help!

So, 3 weeks ago, my cat broke into my gecko's cage during the middle of the night. I woke up and my poor gecko was gone. I thought my cat ate him. I thought for sure he was dead. But last night I found him alive and doing okay, a little thin, but okay. But then I noticed that the end of his tail looked bloody. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was withered to the bone and hard. I'm 99% sure he has tail rot/necrosis. So I'm gonna try to get him to drop it tonight so that it can heal. I looked into taking him to a vet, but the closest vet that does reptiles is pretty far away and very expensive. So I'm gonna make him drop it. If anyone has any thoughts, it would be much appreciated.

If you don't want to have to do anything, just watch it to be sure it isn't getting worse. Ultimately, the new tail will start growing and the dried up part will fall off on its own.
