Sick fat tail?

I have a fat tail approx 9 yrs old. Has been losing weight and has red area on his throat/arm. Eating ok right now. Thoughts?

It looks like some kind of bruise and the gecko looks thin from the angle of the picture. I highly recommend a vet visit.
