Why do geckos form fat deposits when they have a tail for that?

Why do leopard geckos form fat deposits in their arm pits when thet can just store fat in their tail?

To my understanding those bulges under their armpits aren't fat deposits but calcium deposits.

Because the fluids have been tested before.

If you cut back on the calcium you will also notice those sacks slowly going away.

More this happens with females than males, which is good come time for them to form eggs.
