Welcome! Your attachments aren't working for me (anyone else?), so unfortunately I can't see little Gexter (LOVE the name btw). It's best to leave a new gecko alone so he has time to adjust to his new environment, so try to keep the handling to a minimum for a week or two. Cresties really...
Here are some photos from a while back. The first link is old enclosure. I don't use the screen cage anymore and I planted the glass one. The second is my other terrarium when I first planted it. It looks much different now that it's grown out, but you get the idea...
Welcome! Your setup looks great! I think he likes the hoses because they are up high. I have my cresties in the same type of terrarium, and I screwed some hooks into the screen top to hang vines from. Mine spend a lot of time up there too.
Also, fyi, your food dish is HUGE! They really...
I've never tried housing geckos together. Even if they are all females, you have to be very careful or they will fight or bully each other. They just don't like sharing their space. I house my cresties (singly) in an 18"x18"x24" ZooMed terrarium. They like to climb so height is very...
Is the blue color new or did you just notice it? I'm fostering a leo that I think is a blizzard, very light color so the organs inside him would show through as a blue color, especially since he was so skinny when I got him. I can't see your pictures either, but are you sure the white stuff...
I wouldn't breed a rescue female, especially if she is skinny. It would be really dangerous for her. And as long as they are together the male will try to breed. This could be stressing her out to the point where she is not eating. Keep them separated and she may start eating on her own.
Haven't had much time to post lately because I've been getting more involved with rescue and have lots of fosters right now. That and my job keep me super busy. But I just wanted to say I've been fostering a little leopard gecko since early November, and he (not sure of sex) is a total...
Like Kayla said, be careful with the heat pad. I've never used an external heat source for mine. Would it be possible to just move his cage to a warmer part of the house, or bump the thermostat up a few degrees? Live plants can help maintain humidity levels, and they look nice too.
Hi Hannah! I've never heard of a general gecko...sounds like you bought him from a pet store that doesn't know anything about geckos. If you post a picture, I'm sure one of our members will recognize the species.
I wouldn't use sand. Best not to risk it. If you want something that looks more natural and is easier to clean than reptile carpet, you could use slate tile. It's cheap and easy to find at Lowe's, Home Depot, and those types of stores.
