Look at it another way...maybe it's not so much the moisture thing but a way to clean debris out. Consider the choice of appendages available: a needle-like claw on a marginally dexterous limb or a soft, moist and sticky muscle in close proximity.

Yeah...I figured that it was relatively normal. You know... hmm...my eye is feeling a bit dry. I wish there was some way to - wait - it's close to my mouth and I got this long tongue! Problem solved :cool:
Saw her do it just last night.
We take a bunch out and put them in in a dish to warm them up then feed them one at a time (typically). She hasn't mastered a bunch in a feeding dish yet...surprisingly she misses a lot when they're there.
No way could I take off the heads...while watching her eat we've noticed she specifically...
