  • Havn't been on in a while, at least when it comes to posting. But I have 2 babies now who share a 20 gallon long tank. :) <3 They're precious. Both girls, Pepper and my new girl Ninja Biffles. HEHE. But I adore them with all of my heart. Ninja is the SWEETEST gecko in the world. If I lay my hand flat in the tank she literally walks right into it and waits for me to hold her, she adores being handled. And she likes to sleep in the pockets of hoodies and jackets. :)
Pepper is a girl! :D I am sooooo happy, that's exactly what I wanted. :) I have looooots of boy pets (2 male dogs, 2 male cats, 3 male betta fish) and not so many girls in the house (2 girl dogs, 1 girl betta fish) so I am very glad I don't have to add another tally mark to the boys side! :p I also have 5 bro's so there are just too many boys everywhere. But yay! Pepper is a girlie. :D
I have had Pepper for more than 2 months now, and she is doing amazing!!! Sheds very well now, eats wonderfully, is active at night, and so good with being held. :D It's awesome! I am leaving tomorrow for a 9 day vacation with my family, and Pepper will be in the care of my uncle. I am praying the care sheet I wrote is carefully followed and Pepper is perfectly fine when I get back. I'm gonna miss her. She is getting so big, and cute! I love her.
I've now had Pepper for 2 weeks. If you count the day I got her and today, 15 days. :) And I've had zero problems! I know, a petco leo at half price ($15!), and no problems! Remarkable. But it's true. S/he sheds like a dream, and eats every bit of food I put in her tank. At night she stalks around like a tiny dinosaur. :) In the day, she sleeps in one of her hides. She just started eating crickets dusted in calcium plus today. ;) She poops often, and I keep her tank extra clean. It's really easy, paper towels are a breeze to change out. The only thing that isn't going very well is handling. I don't like to hold her in the day, because she's grumpy. Hey, that's like being woken up at 3:00am to be held. Not fun! And at night, she's so hyper, I am terrified of losing her or dropping her. Sigh. Oh well, tonights another night. But yay for Pepper!
Pepper juuuust had her tank cleaned and redone with some fresh paper towels. She's exploring now, acting all healthy. She always acts healthy, so I'm sure she is. I feel terrible though, her handling before I put her back in the tank wasn't very good. She sprinted right off my hands, even though I was making a platform with one hand after the other as fast as I could, and she fell about 6" onto a mattress. After that she was calmer, at least, but I didn't want to risk it, so i pur her back. But she is perfectly fine now. Oh well! I am trying so hard to get her used to handling.
Pepper is shedding! For the first time with me, Pepper is shedding. It is going well, head is already completely clear, and half of Pepper's back is done too. Pepper has a moist hide, and I made sure it was good and humid today. I hope this helps! Yay, Pepper!
I wish I knew whether or not Pepper was a boy or a girl! :p I tried the flashlight method and at first I was sure I had a male, but apparently, all baby geckos pretty much look like males with this method, so I'll have to wait. :)
Just finished holding my baby Pepper. :) S/he fell asleep on my tummy! I guess because of the warmth. But it was adorable! And I think s/he is finally getting used to being held. She doesn't hiss at me at all if I scoop her up, and she is pretty calm. She does dart sometimes, but after I gently grab her she is fine again. ;) I love my gecko!
Baby Pepper finally got his/her UTH today. No more bright stupid heat lamp. S/he'll be much happier now! ;) Now the tank is complete supply-wise. 10 gallon - UTH, paper towel substrate, moist hide, warm hide, calcium, water and food dishes, a few fake plants and a nice climbing rock, plus a little washcloth for extra warmth. Yay for Pepper!
