    Mourning Geckos

I've got a few. It's my second time trying them, simply because I didn't secure my first enclosure well enough and lost them eventually. This time, for now, they're in a home-made 1 gallon plastic jar enclosure that is escape proof (so far). I hope to upgrade them (or their offspring?) to a...

    What Morph

Some keepers who do use substrate use a blend of something like 50/50 topsoil and playsand, and much prefer that to ecoearth. Ecoearth holds humidity well (and can be good for high humidity species). It's very loose and dry when it is kept in arid enclosures, so I've steered away from it. I...

    What Morph

It's also worth double-checking the humidity gauges for malfunction.

Free Leopard Gecko to Good Home (Pick up Only at This Time - Providence RI)

This is Seattle, a healthy, beautiful, 6 year-old female leopard gecko. She is a "mutt" - not a pure-breed morph, and I don't know anything about her genetic lineage. She is free to a good home. After 6 years of sharing an enclosure with Indi, another female, she injured Indi and they are...

the ASPCA's characterization of exotic pets

That's part of what prompted me to write to them. They lump all "exotic" animals into one generalization, and NONE of the statements they make are true of ALL exotic pets; worse yet are the generalizations they make about exotic pet owners. MANY people who purchase exotic pets are...

the ASPCA's characterization of exotic pets

For those of you in the United States: I stumbled across this the other day: http://www.aspca.org/adoption/adoption-tips/exotic-animals.html I was a little horrified by the way that people like us are depicted on the ASPCA site, and so I wrote a letter to their general mailing address...

    uvb lights for leos?

I know that albino morphs are sensitive to UV. I think a lot of research is up in the air. The general consensus at present is that leopard geckos do not need UV, but more and more on forums like this, I hear accounts of vets recommending UV, often to speed recovery from vitamin/calcium...

    What morph is my gecko?

It looks big enough to be about fully grown now. I think you're right that it's a high yellow normal. It might have wound up at the petstore because it's "imperfect" by breeder's coloration standards, though it looks gorgeous to me.
