Her name is Dahlia, and she's a 2 month old Bloodred Corn Snake ^_^
She has to stay in the critter keeper for the weekend until the screen clips arrive, otherwise, she'll escape, and I really don't want that to happen. She's got plenty of room though, so I'm not real worried about...
Ryuu's colors change depending on her mood- it's easier to tell her emotions and stressors by her colors.
That said, she's had a hard tummy before, and I bathed her daily and rubbed her under her tummy with both hands in a "downward" motion, like toward her vent. Once she pooped, it was FOUL...
Tile is awesome for beardies b/c it helps file down the claws. Ryuu is on slate tiles and she seems to love it... actually so is my leopard gecko. It's easy to clean up, retains heat well, and looks really nice.
We were about to put him in a shoe box til we finished her yard, hence the hold. He has a decent set up for right now- a little small, but until we know he's going to eat, and be OK, we're not taking any chances. If we have to let him go, we will.
Ryuu lived on playground sand for a LONG time and she LOVED it, but she's a digger, and loves to hide under stuff. I changed her out to reptile carpet when I caught e coli from her tank, and then to slate tile when the carpet made me angry, lol.
This cutie doesn't have a name yet, and is currently in a tank that's too small but we'll fix that, hopefully, over the weekend.
Anyway, we found him while we were clearing a friend's backyard. She freaked out, and rather than killing him, she gave him to DH since he wanted a snake.
I...
She sits on the seat beside me, or on the arm rest. If she's behaving, she'll sit on my shoulder and look out the window. It's easier if DH is in the car tho, he holds her so she can see out the front window.
I had to show DH Weetbix... lol. He even grinned at the adorableness. I'm still amazed at his energy! Ryuu only runs around like that when she's in the living room lol, but as soon as she realizes you're watching her, she freezes. lol
Since it's summer, like everyone else said, outside is great for beardies. I take Ryuu to the pet store with me, and even sometimes when I run errands. Taking her in stores is hilarious, and she LOVES car rides, as long as she can see out the window. ^_^
I kind of use their personality to determine names... I like non-English names, so I do a google search to find names that mean personality traits I see in my pets... does that make sense?
I wasn't real creative w/ Ryuu's name, as her name is "dragon" in Japanese, lol.
