I was wondering how you tell if the eggs are fertile. I have candled them with this like one led mini flash light and they are all completely red, but i don't notice any veins. So when i candle them and there red does that mean there fertile?

I've got my first 4 eggs in the incubator right now and just took pics last night. Only 1 egg has ever shown veins and it not candles RED. The other 3 eggs now candle YELLOW/GREENish. 1 fertile out of 2x "first time breeders' first clutches" is somewhat normal :(.

Here's the pics I posted yesterday in this very same Incubation section of the forum:

A1, 9days old, starting to dent slightly..never had a vein.

A2, still has a red vein, feels more firm than A1.

.^^That "reddish/brownish blotch is NOT a vein...just one of the "stains" (from cocofiber??) that is on a few eggs.

This was taken after around 25 days of incubation.
You can clearly see that the egg on the right is fertile while the egg on the left unfortunately is not.

Well im liking my chances of getting some babies. Last year for the first clutch i didnt have a incubator, and the second never ended up hatching. My female looks gravid again so maybe 2 more eggs (although im running our of containers to put eggs in :p). How long from lay do you say it takes for the eggs to hatch.

First Clutch: 3/4/14
Second Clutch: 3/22/14

There incubating at 85 degrees and humidity is about 75, does it need be higher if so how do i get it higher ive tried to keep it higher. And also do you guys have better results using the GEO for your eggs?

The important things that all incubation methods share:
-store eggs in a HUMID environment, but...
-DON"T let the eggs get WET.

The GEO allows you to store the eggs on a "dry" platform ABOVE a wet substrate. The air around the "dry" platform is humid because of the 85F wet substrate. :)

If you have your eggs planted directly into a small recess in the substrate, follow the recommended RATIO's to ensure the substrate is properly damp but not excessively WET/over-saturated.

Humid = good.
wet eggs = BAD. :)
