HI,

I recently got a levis, I weighed him and he is only 6 grams or so. I have offered him crickets and mealworms(saw him eat them) and got some phoenix worms ( http://www.phoenixworm.comhttp://www.phoenixworm.com ) the herp store ran out of wax worms. I know he is eating because he is going to the toilet often. He did regurgitate mealworms so I stopped feeding him these. I was wondering what the best fattening food is form the experiences keepers. Also- I used a hand held scale to weigh him. What do the rest use? Is there a correlation between age and weight for male/females and has anyone charted these (+/-) Thanks !

The N. levis species are dimorphic, so the males are considerably smaller than the females. A typical wight of an adult male is around 16-20 grams while females are usually in the 24-28 gram range. They are very slow to grow and develop compared to many other gecko species.

As far as feeding your boy, I would stick to calcium-dusted crickets with weekly vitamin supplementation. Feeding too many crickets at a time will really stress them out, so at his age he will probably do better with 1-2 crickets every day. Phoenix worms are a great source of calcium, and an occasional waxworm or mealworm is fine to prevent over-feeding them and regurgitation.

I use a digital gram scale to seigh all my geckos. You can usually find on in the kitchen gadget department of many major stores.
