Bioactive tank

I have 2 personal Leo’s and 2 breeding Leo’s (both breeders are babies so it’ll be a couple years before they breed but I want to get into it) I want to get a bioactive tank for my big female and possibly my male but I’m starting with one. I have done bioactive tanks for my dart frogs so it’s not a new thing for me but how do you heat a bioactive tank for a Leo. I use heat mats but with a thick substrate that won’t work. Is it possible to put the mat on the wall of the terrarium or is there another way?
