Hi. I want to begin breeding black night leopard geckos from scratch. What leopard gecko morphs can I use to begin with the black night project? Will a mac snow eclipse work to begin with?
The only reasonable way to produce a black night leopard gecko is to buy geckos from the black night line. They are expensive. The other way to produce a very dark leopard gecko is to get some geckos as dark as you can find, to breed them together and then to take the darkest offspring and to breed it back to the parents. This is essentially how the black night gecko was developed. It took many years and it means having a lot of geckos and keeping only the few that approach dark coloring. Even if you were to do this and succeed with a dark colored gecko, you would have a to find another name for it because "black night" means that it comes from that line. A Mack snow eclipses will be a regular looking gecko (because the Mack snow will eventually yellow up) with solid black eyes.
Here's a Gecko Time article about the Black Night leopard gecko:
Ok thanks. And another question, with what gecko morphs did jayden coleman begin with in starting the black night project? Did he also buy a black night to begin with?
