As far as I'm aware, bold patterns can be passed on, but are a line breed trait.

I think ALL geckos are 'special', bold or not! LOL! Seriously, bold stripes and bold jungles are highly sought after, and I believe it is a line-bred trait in most cases. The appeal for me is that they have such unique patterns and no two look alike. It's still a matter of personal preference.
