Bringing things inside for the Gecko

I know that all the sites say not to bring anything in from the outside, for fear of there being herbicides or pesticides on said things.
I’ve seen hornworms on the drive and left them out there for fear of that happening. I do think that feeding stuff from the store in this aspect is ideal. Leaves and the such (now if I know that they have been treated I’d stay away from) if I’m fairly certain that they haven’t I’m thinking that going this route is not a horrible thing.

What is everyone’s opinion?

I've used outside leaves in tanks before as well as driftwood and rocks. I baked them in the oven before putting them in the tank. Lot trickier with driftwood due to size. I forget what temp I set them at but I'm sure with a bit of googling or youtubing you can get some theories on that though. You could look for Serpadesign on youtube. I believe he has some info on how he goes about it. He's a professional level Terrarium Builder.
