I am interested in setting up a a vivarium for a corn snake, though I wanted to give it a more natural feel. I wanted to use a mixture of fir bark & forest moss as the substrate (made by Exo-Terra). Some say bark is fine, others say not. Which is true? Some say fir bark produces oils or aromas which are not good for animals & plants? But if that is so how could sensitive plants such as orchids, bromeilaids & mosses thrive in this medium? Thanks for the help!

Here is my inspiration:

eco-earth is really good and affordable and my snake loves it and its made out of coconut fiber but looks just like soil, feels like it too but softer and colder
