Feeding?

I feed my leopard gecko dusted crickets and mealworms. I have a herp/fish specialty shop I go to that sells dead canned crickets. Has anyone had success with dead food? Also, how often should his food be dusted with calcium?

I personally don't like canned things, it seems a little nasty to me. Mealworms can be kept in fridges too, and still be alive. dust around 3-4 times a week, or one week on, and one week off.
Dead should work if you wiggle them with forceps.
