Im using a set of prebuilt particle board shelves. Each cage will be equivalent to a 20 long(approx 12x12x30). Ive not used wood before as enclosures so Im wondering if the house is cool 65ish which should I use for the cages, Heat cable or 3 inch heat tape? Should I add a small light fixture as well or would they over heat? Maybe like a small aquarium bulb or the like?

any pointers would be great.
I will be using acrylic for the front on hinges and ceramic tile for the flooring if that makes a difference.

Okay thanks.I havent used the cable before either but it looked interesting.Ive got lots of the heat tape.

I may install the extra light fixtures just in case I need them for added heat.

I've used, and still use both. Honestly the heat tape works better to provide a nice hotspot. The only reason I use heat cable is because I have a few racks that are custom designed for heat cable with nice slots that it fits right in to. I had to do 3 rows back to back of the heat cable to heat the same amount as the tape. So the tapes much more efficient per foot, but they both work great.
