Heat mat size for 20 gallon

This my 20 gallon zilla critter cage with dimensions 30 x 12 inches. I have the zoo med 6 x 8 inches heat mat. Is it big enough? If not, what size heat mat should I get? Thankyou

Ideally, you want one that covers about 1/3 of the tank bottom. Probably the next size up would be more suitable for a leopard gecko (8 x 12 maybe?).

I've got same tank as you, 30" x 12" and I use the zoo med 30-40 medium uth on it. The gallon ratings shouldn't be on package because they're misleading in my opinion. They should list measurements instead. The 10-20 really only fits a 10. Russ

That's about the size I use on mine, but I also use a basking light for added daytime heat.

For my 30 x 12 inch zilla critter cage, do you think a 8 x 12 heat mat on one corner with a 25 or 40 watt red or moonlight bulb on the other corner of the same side will provide a proper temperature gradient?

You wouldn't want lights heating both ends usually. You want one end to be heated and the other end to taper off to room temp.
