Heat tape issues?

Hey Guys,

Recently I bought some new heat tape for a rack system I have, for the first couple of weeks the heat tape worked as it should, but shortly after, I noticed that the heat tape was no longer warm constantly. Luckily I had extra space to move my geckos out of the rack, but when I measured the temp with my heat gun it was fluctuating between 75 and 98 Degrees within a few seconds. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I tried my thermostat on another rack I have and it is working very accurately.

Are you using a thermostat for heat regulation? It could be more of a thermostat problem then heat tape problem.

I am, I use the same brand thermostat on all my rack systems, I even took the one that was plugged into the rack with the failing heat tape, and plugged it into another rack, and the thermostat is working just fine.
