Help! Crested Gecko covered in vegetable oil

My crested gecko escaped through a faulty vent in his enclosure last night and was caught in a sticky trap. His entire back and head were stuck. I read using vegetable oil would help, so I used some to get him free. The issue is there was no way around getting it basically all over him, including in his eyes. I’m pretty new to keeping cresties, but I’ve got experience with leopard geckos, tarantulas, and scorpions. I’ve never had anything like this happen, so I’m really worried. I just wanna know if this warrants a trip to the vet or if it will affect his long term health. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If he's still covered in oil, don't put him on a particle substrate for now. If he's in a planted tank, see if you can put him in a temporary enclosure until he can get clean. If he'll tolerate it, wet a paper towel with soap and water and sponge him down. The soap should cut the oil. Don't do anything with his eyes; he'll wash it off with his tongue.
