Gecko Sharing and Caring

I have a female leo, about a year old. I was thinking about maybe getting another female. How do you go about hosuing 2 leos together?

Hi Pam.
This is tougher going out to purchase with
Sharing space in mind.
It will work but there are times they just don't
want to get along.
So I really don't think I know any tips on
finding the right companion.
I feel most sharing tank space have been either
clutch mates or close size females that have
been well observed when considered for this.
I do try to share tanks....not due to space
limits but I actually find some geckos
live healthier with company.
I don't mind if I get a negetive on this
comment because I have documented
proof in test observation of this.
Choosing females, size in both length and
near weight seem to have a better chance
for no problems.........
But now I am trying
to observe color a possible factor for
dominance in groupings. (still in process)
If you were to either hatch two or see
two to purchase already together that
may be the near surest.
If you have one and going to get a second,
all I would say is the nearer size and making
sure of sex is a starter......The tank should
have more than one hide but I find it best
if your moist hide is large enough for both.
Your best chance is if they will enter and
share sleeping together at some point.
If you see this they will most likely not
have problems unless for food.
This has to be your concern to observe
each eating. Some eat from a bowel
but you can only count on it if you
see it happen.
I enjoy them living together, although
it does require some extra time to
protect their health.
And none of my comments are meant to
discourage you. Just observe them.
Good Luck. Take care. HJ
