well i know female have to be at least 40 grams to breed, but how big should the male be before introducing them? i would think 40 grams too but i wanted to hear from you guys.

Most people prefer 50 grams and 9 months (or older) for the female. I would go with about the same for the male, primarily because he's likely to eat a lot less during breeding season and most males below 50 grams are still growing. ALso, if he's too young, he may not be adequately fertile. An exception would be a male that's a year and a half or more and just doesn't get that big. If it seems that he's full grown, even if he's a bit small, I think it would be OK to go with one like that.
