Male or female?

This is Rio. He was sticking to the glass so I decided to snap a pic. Can you tell if hes a male or female?
And I know those two white studs are supposed to be there but whats that thing in the middle. It almost looked like a grain of sand but obviously theres no sand in the enclosure.

Hard to say at such a young stage, but I would chance saying female. As for what that is in the middle, good question! I've had it on several of my younger cresties, then it just up and disappeared! I've heard that it could be an indicator of gender, but in my experience the gender went both ways.
