Males bothering the females

I introduced one of my males to a female today, they mated and went about their bussiness. I left her in the cage with him to see if i could permantly keep them together (i do have another group that are fine together.) Just now though, the male was trying to mate again and the female was bothered and ran. He bit her toe and I had to open his mouth to get him to let go. needless to say, i seperated them and her toe is still on but cut alot. Is this normal male behavior to bother the female?

Some cool down and some don't. It seems a bit iffy to keep him in there if he's going to bite her like that. You could let them spend some time together under your supervision to see how it goes. Make sure there are lots of hiding places so the female has some place to retreat to.

Ok. I am also concerned about her toe. Its still on her but goes off to the side kinda while other toes are strait. I put some Neosporin on it and hope it goes back to normal with a few sheds hopefully.
