Nephrurus wheeleri

Another of the species I recently photographed for my website... Nephrurus wheeleri. I raised up this pair from babies and they are now producing for me. I have 4 eggs in the incubator that are looking good and the female is looking gravid again. The male got pretty feisty during the photoshoot and stalked the camera the whole time. It was both humorous and embarrassing when I almost dropped the camera the first time he lunged for the lens.... OK, so I did drop the camera, but in my defense I was shooting in supermacro mode and he looked much scarier through the lens LOL.

I think he was just thinking what he would do to me if could just catch me LOL. Seriously, he's never shown any attitude at all before this photoshoot, but he certainly didn't like having a camera stuck in his face.
