I put my lay box in the back end of the 32 qt tub in my rack but that is also where my heat cord is active & after a few days the coconut fiber became dry (no eggs yet).

Do I keep misting it or move the box off the heated area?

Thanks,
Michael

i prefer to keep my box on the heated side. i feel it aids in shedding and also helps the eggs if i dont get them for a few hours. i use coco fiber as well but i dont have to hydrate it all that often. but i do make sure to always have only one small hole at the top of the box, just big enough for the leos to get in and out, to help keep the moisture in.

Let me ask you this...
If you are keeping your leo at the proper temperatures with a hot spot in the mid to upper 90's do you think eggs should be layed in that area???
No way...

Being that I keep leos with a cool side in the lower 80's, their lay box goes between the cool side and the middle of the bin... Mostly on the cool end though...

The nest box or humid hide does not have to be hot and steamy in order for it to work or be used properly...
