Rockwall background... Picture steps.

Okay this is what i did for the giant day gecko terrarium im building.. sorry some pix are sideways, I couldn't figure out how to rotate them.

enclosure im using :

first got some eggcrate :

and spray foam :

with the spray foam patience is key!!! dont be like me and start grouting after 24 hours lol your grout will crack. wait 4-5 days after spray foaming just to make sure.

make sure it still fits your enclosure :

first layer of grout

after many layers of grout and even running out of the kind i started with:

i paint

i used some watever black paint i had laying around :

should have warned of massive pics but i bet your day gecko will love it! Cant wait to see fully rock background!

One thing we have always done is take black silicone and paint the back and side walls where the wall protrudes so you do not see the back of the egggrate. You can also do the same thing with driftwood and coco husk see this link
