Thinking of getting a toad or two. Are there any out there that you can handle occasionally and not get a rash? Any that are more mellow? Our oldest boy is very interested in them-we just raised a bunch of tadpoles to frogs and released them :) I saw a fire bellied toad, but it said they secret an oil and shouldn't be handled at all.
Any input on a first time toad would be great. Thanks.

All toads secrete toxins, and it's better to avoid handling amphibians in general because their skin is very sensitive.

Fire Bellies can be housed at room temp. without many worries. Just make 1/3 land and 2/3 water and you'll be fine. A 10 gallon for a pair would be nice.
