Hello everyone, I have a question. Will an under tank heater work ok if I use tiles in my tank? Will the heat come through the tiles and make them warm? Thanks for any help.

Tiles hold heat very well. For added heat transfer, you can tape aluminum foil on your UTH (so you have the UTH sandwiched between the tank bottom and the foil).

Definitely. Generic tile is no where thick enough to insulate the heat to the point where it won't be warm enough for your leo. Just remember to get something textured (I like slate the best but there are cheaper alternatives).

I use regular floor tile from Lowes (I believe it is ceramic - it looks like slate though) in my 2 tanks and I have no problems with the UTH heating it - I use a thermostat and had to adjust my temps down.

I like the tile, it's easy to pick up the poop (with paper towel or a tissue) instead of trying to get paper towel out from under hides and decorations.
