New gecko owner here. Looking forward to convert my miserable paper towel setup to a topsoil/playsand mix- except that I am not from an English speaking country. Hence, I don't have all the top soil and playsand mix brand recommendations.
For the top soil- the top soil sold here is red top soil, which I notice looks very different from the top soil used in the US and UK. Now this might be geographical differences, but my paranoid brain can't seem to figure out if this is safe to use as it does have a more clay-ish texture.
If this is not safe, then what do you think about pure organic humus? Would that be safe?
Another option I found is "black soil". I've asked the company and they told me they have no added fertilisers and that it's 100% pure soil with natural decomposed plants and wood material.
I'm quite paranoid and confused especially since in my country, Malaysia, most people don't take proper care for their gecko. I mean most just use aspen shavings or sand for their substrate
Images are as below:
1) red top soil
2) organic humus
3) black soil
None of these contain fertilizers. Are these safe?
