wooden hides?

could i make my own hides outta wood that is just layin around myhouse?
is pine ok to use for them?
im not sure if it is so im asking :)

o i know.im going to sand it down alot.
make it nice and smooth.
its just my grandpa yells at me for being on the computer all day and i nee something else to do.so i figured im going to need hides for my hatchling rack so why not lol.

I also wouldn't use wood for the humid hides...the humidity will cause the wood to rot and mold. I don't see why you couldn't use it as a dry hide. Also, be sure it's kiln-dried wood and it isn't sappy - the sap can be quite irritating to herps (in the case of some woods - deadly)

well im sure it doesnt have sap...it has been sitting around for a couple years lol

i would try and buy untreated wood, too... just as a precaution. most wood sold in pet stores is untreated, whereas almost all wood from places like Home Depot is treated!
