Hey all, went to pet store for crickets and came home with a bearded dragon. The pet store had got him in with three legs back leg is missing just past knee. Wound is well healed and he gets around fine. My question is how many hours of uvb light does he need a day? Abby named him Tripod.

Depending on the rating on the bulb if its a 5.0 I'd say minimum of 12 hours. 10.0 you could get by with 8-10 hours. In the summer you can take them outside and in a half hour they get the equivalent of 12 hours of 10.0...It helps the electric bill...

You deff need a 10.0
5.0 just doesnt give them enough for propper digestion or calcium absorbtion.

Yeah I was under the impression that 5.0 was rated for tropical species and 10.0 for desert species?

Buy a repti-sun 10.0. Put it 6-8 inches away, and keep it on for about 12 hours a day..

I think that should be correct.
