I was wondering if a female crested gecko will lay eggs even if she is not kept with a male crested gecko. Basically, I am planning on only getting 1 unsexed crested gecko and I wanted to know if I still need to provide an egg-laying box.
Thanks!
Hey everyone!
I am considering setting up a tropical vivarium and am thinking of stocking it with 1x Rhacodactylus ciliatus. I am not going to go over the top in creating a very complex/expensive set-up as I already have a large reef tank, but I would like to try my hand at keeping tropical...
OK, I just found out due to space constraints I will not be able to use the 15 gallon, but instead a 10 gallon. From what I've read I could keep 4 frogs in a 10 gallon footprint. Is this true? Any help regarding any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm curious, why do your frogs look brown in the first few pics, but then in the last one they look green? Do they change color a bit to match their surroundings?
I am interested in keeping firebelly's as an alternate to aquati turtles. I just have a few questions.
1. I currently have a 15 gallon glass aquarium (2'x1'x1') which I am planning to use. I was hoping to keep a group of firebellys to achieve more interesting social patterns and possibly...

I personally do not like the plexiglas divider method for semi-aquatic tanks. In my opinion the tanks look less natural & more artificial because of the right angles. It's also a little more difficult and time...
I am interested in setting up a a vivarium for a corn snake, though I wanted to give it a more natural feel. I wanted to use a mixture of fir bark & forest moss as the substrate (made by Exo-Terra). Some say bark is fine, others say not. Which is true? Some say fir bark produces oils or aromas...
I am sorry for the basic question, but for some reason the search button will not work for me. I was curious how you are suppose to raise the tank (I read the tank has to be elevated a bit to provide some air flow so heat doesn't build up). Right now I'm just using those standard 1/8" rubber...
thanks for reply. I'm trying to find shallower glass dishes, those were the only ones I could find at the moment. Also, I was just going to use 2 bowls (1 for water, 1 for mealworms/calcium. Is that OK?). Yeah, fogot about the humid hide, will grab another pot. Planning on doing just mealworms.
Yeah, I read some where that if geckos are kept on paper towel they should be provided a bowl of grit (sand, egg shells) because in the wild they would naturally ingest small quantities to help break down insect shells & supplement diet with calcium. This came from The Herpetology of Leopard...
I just found some rocks in my backyard. I first washed them off with the hose, then soaked them in soapy boiling water for 10+ mins, then scrubbed them with soap, washed them off with hot water, rinsed them with boiling water, then with vinegar, then rinsed them off again in the cool water to...
I am hoping to get a leopard gecko shortly and have already began planning out my tank. In the future I hope to go to upgrade it to a naturalistic vivarium, but for now it's just going to be a basic tank. I still have to get the UTH, rheostat, thermometers, ect, so it is by no means finished...
I am setting up a cage for a gecko I hope to get soon. It will be in a standard 15g & I'm planning on using plastic or clay pots as the hides. I was curious what size you would reccomend for a gecko at full size (adult). I currently have 5" & 6" plastic pots, but I wasn't sure if a 5" would be...
Hey, that's pretty cool! I would have never thought about using a AIO reef tank for a Leo. How are the dimensions? Did you have to rip out the filtration system in the back? Good luck
